Scope and Contents
Restricted semi-official letters from Jardine Matheson, Shanghai, with enclosed letters and papers: copies of nos R.12-52, R.54-59 and R.61-84 from J.H. Keswick (mainly) and H.H. Lennox to R. Gordon and D.F. Landale, Hong Kong, 25 August 1949-13 December 1950, and the original of no. 53 from J.H. Keswick to W.J. Keswick, London, 6 April 1950. A note records that nos R.1-11 are found in their original location with the semi-official letters from Shanghai to Hong Kong (see J1/229/11), and gives their original numbers, date and subject matter. These letters were transferred subsequently to the restricted series and renumbered (see J1/136).
