Scope and Contents

Copies of semi-official correspondence between Jardine Matheson, Tokyo, and Jardine Matheson, Kobe and Taipei, with enclosures. Some letters have been transferred to other files, but there are sheets listing their contents.

TAIPEI

1. Sheets listing semi-official letters nos 1-3 from Tokyo to Taipei, 17 January 1951, 20 February 1951 and 7 March 1951.

2. Sheets listing semi-official letters nos 1 and 2 from Taipei to Tokyo, 4 January 1951 and 15 February 1951.

3. Semi-official letters nos 2-5 from F.A. Pollock, Tokyo, to B.E. Bolton, Taipei, 19 July-6 October 1950. Nos 1 and 6 are listed as missing. No. 7 has been transferred to another file, but there is a sheet listing its contents.

4. Semi-official letters nos 1-9 from B.E. Bolton, Taipei, to F.A. Pollock and M.L. Railton, Tokyo, 16 January-29 December 1950.

5. Semi-official letters nos 5-10 from M.L. Railton, Tokyo, to B.E. Bolton, Taipei, 31 October-31 December 1949.

6. Semi-official letters nos 8-11 from B.E. Bolton, Taipei, to M.L. Railton, Tokyo, 26 November-6 December 1949.

The subjects covered include Jardine Engineering Corporation enquiries; sugar; Taiwan-Japan trade; J.G. White Engineering Corporation; and Dr C.A. Yen.

KOBE

1. Semi-official letters nos 1-6, 8, 10-12, 14-16, 18-23, 25-29, 31, 32, 35-41, 43, 44, 46, 48-50, 52-60, 62, 64, 66-71, 74, 76, 79, 81, 88-94, 102, 106, 108, 111, 113-117, 119-125 and 128 from A.R.J. White, Kobe, to F.A. Pollock, Tokyo, 8 January-10 December 1951, with monthly trading reports. Nos 7, 9, 13, 17, 24, 30, 33, 34, 42, 45, 47, 51, 61, 63, 65, 73, 75, 78, 80, 82-84, 87, 95-97, 99, 101, 103-105, 107, 109, 110, 112, 118, 126 and 127 have been transferred to other files, but there are sheets listing their contents. Nos 72, 77, 85, 86, 98 and 100 were cancelled.

4. Semi-official letters nos 1-9, 11-35, 38-40 and 44-72 from F.A. Pollock (mainly) and M.L. Railton to A.D. Angus, R. Corbett, J.C.M. Fullerton and A.R.J. White, Kobe, 11 January-19 December 1950. Nos 36, 37, 41-43 and 73 have been transferred to other files, but there are sheets listing their contents. No. 10 was cancelled.

5. Semi-official letters nos 13 and 14 from M.L. Railton to R. Corbett, Kobe, 7 and 12 December 1949, and 15 from F.A. Pollock to R. Corbett, Kobe, 28 December 1949.

The subjects covered include the Airways Department; A.D. Angus's report on his visit to Manchester and Bradford; Bampo Trading Co.
