Scope and Contents

Copies of semi-official letters from A. Davidson, J.H. Swenarton, C.E. Thompson and others, Balfour, Guthrie & Co. Ltd, New York, to B.D.F. Beith and W.J. Keswick, Matheson & Co. Ltd, London, with enclosures, including semi-monthly reports of unsold tea. Some of the letters are addressed simply to Matheson & Co. Ltd. There are also some copies of telegrams exchanged between London and New York. Much of the correspondence is concerned with the tea trade. The other subjects include Ewo Breweries Ltd, Ewo Cotton Mills, the sinking of S.S. 'Ruth Alexander' and staff.
