Originals and copies of records regarding properties at Shameen in the province of Canton:

1. An envelope containing photostats and negatives of the lease of Lots Nos 13 and 30 and the eastern half of Lots Nos 12 and 29, Shameen, to Alexander Perceval, 3 September 1861, including a record of subsequent transfers to J.J. Keswick, as Trustee of Jardine, Matheson & Co., 12 September 1863 (see no. 2), and to Jardine, Matheson & Co., 8 November 1907, and a Chinese translation of the Crown Lease in respect to these lots. The envelope is inside another envelope labelled 'Title Deeds & Transfers Lots Nos. 12E, 29E, 13 and 30, on former British Concession, Shameen. Properties owned by Jardine Matheson & Co. Ltd.'

2. An assignment of lease and declaration of Trust with specific power to appoint new Trustees, made by Sir R.W.B. Jardine and James MacAndrew, executors of Alexander Perceval, deceased; Jardine, Matheson & Co.; and J.J. Keswick, whereby the lease of Lots Nos 13 and 30 and the eastern half of Lots Nos 12 and 29, Shameen, were transferred to J.J. Keswick as Trustee of Jardine, Matheson & Co., 12 September 1893.

3. An envelope containing a photostat and a negative of the Chinese land ownership certificate of the Shameen property. There is a note on the envelope recording that original document was handed to H.H. Tod (of Jardine, Matheson & Co.) on 18 January 1881 for transmission to Canton.

4. An unidentified Chinese document.

The photostats and negatives were probably made in the late 1940s or early 1950s.

The documents are in an envelope labelled 'P.20' and 'Shameen Title Deeds'. This is inside another envelope labelled 'P-20' and 'Canton', which includes a typescript contents list titled 'Canton Hong Kong', which covers only some of the records.
