Scope and Contents
Eleven business documents from Bangkok, Ceylon, Formosa, India, Penang, and the Philippines, including an extract from the 'Calcutta Trade Index' on the export of silk from Calcutta in July 1847 and 1848; a notice of the scale of charges for transmission of messages through the Indo-European Line, Colombo, 4 March 1865; a notice concerning the Reuters Agent responsible for telegraph messages to Europe, etc., by the Indo-European Line, Galle, 3 April 1865; a note on lay days used for loading the 'Champion', Bangkok, 14 March 1870; a table of raw sugar purchased by the Luzon Sugar Refinery in November 1881; a list of shareholders in the Indo-China Steam Navigation Co. Ltd, Manila, 1882; and a list of cargo short landed at Penang per 'Statesman', undated.
