Scope and Contents
Printed testimonials and character references for seamen and other workers:
1. A sheet listing and describing documents of 1850-1853 speaking in favour of the work of Robert Marchant, engineer, undated, presumably prepared for a job application.
2. A brochure of testimonials of 1864-1867 for F.L. Preira, book-keeper, 1867, including a manuscript note on the reverse: 'Soliciting a berth in this house and handing copies of Testimonials'.
3. A booklet of references of 1875-1885 for R.T. Graham, seaman, including a manuscript copy of his certificates of discharge, undated.
4. A brochure of testimonials of 1878-1887 for Captain Thomas Hamlin, undated.
5. A booklet of testimonials of 1881-1890 for E.S. Graham, seaman, undated.
6. A sheet of certificates of 1888-1893 testifying to the good service of Captain William Smith, undated.
