Memoranda and other papers regarding the affairs of Moncreiff, Grove & Co., with some also relating to Maitland, Ewing & Co.; dated London and Shanghai. They include a memorandum of produce on hand on account of Moncreiff, Grove & Co. held by Maitland, Ewing & Co., 3 April 1858; 'List of current acceptances by Messrs Maitland Ewing & Co. on account of Moncreiff Grove & Co.', 2 June 1858; resolutions of an adjourned meeting of the creditors of Moncreiff, Grove & Co., 3 July 1858 (2 copies); a memorandum of agreement between three co-partners of Moncreiff, Grove & Co., Robert Jardine and Richard Newby, and creditors or their agents, 9 July 1858 (2 copies); a statement of the affairs of Moncreiff, Grove & Co., 13 October 1858; an extract from a letter from Mr Moncreiff to Moncreiff, Grove & Co., 8 January 1859; a memorandum of a meeting of inspectors, 15 March 1859; a memorandum regarding Maitland, Ewing & Co., consisting of a covering letter and annexed statements, including reference to the company's suspension and Moncreiff, Grove & Co., July 1859 (2 copies); resolutions of a meeting regarding the 'Wild Wave' and a claim of Maitland, Ewing & Co., 10 August 1859; and minutes of a meeting of the creditors of Moncreiff, Grove & Co., 14 February 1860. The documents include reference to James Moncreiff; James Whittall; Edinburgh; and insolvency.
