Reports on measures to quell weavers' unrest
Scope and Contents
'Joint Report by Cheng Jun-ts'ai, an expectant Colonel in Command of the central division of the An braves, Major Huang Lung-t'ao and Hui, Colonel of the Shunte Brigade, and Hsii Keng pi, Magistrate of the Namhoi District', regarding the suppression of civil unrest amongst weavers supposedly deprived of their means of livelihood by the use of filature machinery, undated [late nineteenth century], with a précis of a 'Further report by the same Officers'. Both documents were translated by J.N. Jordan and are written on British government paper. They include reference to Ta kang hsii, fabric and silk.
