Memoranda and accounts: India, 1864-1880
Scope and Contents
The documents are from Bombay and Calcutta, and include the policy of the Triton Insurance Company for a voyage of the 'Kaisar-i-Hind', with a Hong Kong sales account of sea-damaged opium from that vessel; memoranda regarding freight and brokerage of vessels on various voyages; particulars of payments made on behalf of Jardine, Matheson & Co.; memoranda of costs of and charges on gram, livestock and sundries; adjustments of steamer earnings; a memorandum of payments made on account of the owners of the 'Cassandra'; an abstract statement of the Bengal Insurance Society 1869/74 for the ninth half year, 1 May-31 October 1873; a memorandum of dividends to shareholders in China on account of the Triton Insurance Co.; statements of coal received and expended on account of Jardine, Matheson & Co.; memoranda regarding government securities and debentures; a statement of the return commission due to Jardine, Skinner & Co. at Calcutta, dated Hong Kong, October 1871; a memorandum of payments to Peter G. Laurie; a list of export cargo on the 'Mountstuart Elphinstone', prepared for the Collector of Government Customs; memoranda regarding disbursements on the 'Glenartney'; and a memorandum regarding brokerage on opium and cotton, Bombay. The documents include reference to the Bengal Insurance Society; Remington & Co.; 'Historian'; 'Moray'; 'Venice'; pigs; sheeps; and shipping.
