Scope and Contents
Memoranda and accounts, some concerning the Newchwang oil mill, dated Newchwang and elsewhere. The documents include memoranda regarding sycee silver; market quotations; a memorandum on the outlay in building a godown; memoranda of peas purchased, and beancake, bean oil and beans exported; a memorandum of sundries bought for the use of the oil mill; a memorandum regarding the cost of beancake and oil, with the estimated result; memoranda of wages and petty expenses; a memorandum of foreign merchandise imported and re-exported in foreign vessels during 1869; a memorandum of expenses on sugar transhipped to Tientsin; coal accounts; a memorandum regarding treasure; accounts of the owners of the 'Kiushu' with Charles Hill, and related papers; returns of the Newchwang oil mill for July 1869; and Bush Brothers' shipping report, November 1871. The documents include reference to R.A. Houstoun and property.
