Scope and Contents
Memoranda of stocks, liabilities and assets, including daily statements of opium on hand, with related balances and accounts; dated Hong Kong, 1872. There is also a power of attorney relating to the Hongkong Fire Insurance Co., signed by John Keswick, Calcutta, 19 April 1870; a list of wines and stores for the Hill House, Hong Kong, 27 June 1871; an account of the Diocesan Home and Orphanage with William Keswick, Hong Kong, 16 January 1872; and a letter from John Hoole to William Keswick, Canton, 26 January 1872. The documents include reference to Herbert Smith; 'Peiho'; coal; rice; and shipping.
