Documents from Nagasaki and Yokohama, including a memorandum of advances to the Satsuma agent, with a memorandum of interest on the advances and memoranda of Jardine, Matheson & Co.'s outstanding drafts on the Satsuma agency; memoranda regarding purchases of tea, and outturns regarding tea; a memorandum of Glover & Co.'s payments on account of James Whittall, with other memoranda regarding Glover & Co., including a valuation of property at Nagasaki under mortgage to Jardine, Matheson & Co.; a memorandum of payments incurred in discharging boilers belonging to the 'Carthage'; a memorandum regarding freight payable on the 'Georges'; a memorandum regarding wax purchased; memoranda regarding velvet shipped to Hakodate; outturns on treasure; an analysis of an import and duty account, Yokohama; and memoranda of wages and petty expenses. The documents include reference to C.S. Hope and seaweed.
