Scope and Contents
The documents are in English and French, and are dated Calcutta, Canton, Colombo, Foochow, Hong Kong, Lyon, Shanghai and Sydney. They include documents regarding trade with companies in France; miscellaneous memoranda regarding tea, with a table of the quantity of tea consumed in the United Kingdom and exported during 1850-1860; accounts for marine supplies and shipping cargoes; 'Remarks on Statement of General Average per "Futtle Rohoman" ... from Melbourne to Calcutta with cargo', 1861; and outturns and memoranda regarding specie, treasure and bullion, Shanghai and Hong Kong. The documents include reference to M.A. Macleod; Thomas Sullivan; William Thom; James Whittall; Arlès-Dufour and Co.; Milsom and F.
