Scope and Contents

Opium returns, reports, stock accounts, clearances and related documents, dated Cumsingmoon (Kumsingmun) and no place. Some of the documents are addressed to Joseph Jardine, Canton. There is also a set of headings for an enquiry into opium production, May 1848; statements of opium exports to China and the Straits, dated Calcutta, December 1852-May 1854; two synopses of Malwa opium from Bombay, 1854 and undated; and a statement of the comparative weight of new and old Bengal opium, 'Cama Family', Cumsingmoon, March 1855. The documents include reference to the 'Lady Hayes'.
