Miscellaneous memoranda and accounts, 1813-1886 (mostly 1840s-1860s)

Scope and Contents

The documents are dated Aberdeen, Calcutta, Canton, Cumsingmoon, Hong Kong and Shanghai, and include a 'Statement of Consumption and Value of Indian Opium in China from 31st March 1828 @ 31st January 1829'; 'General Statement of the Affairs of Messrs Ilbery Fearon & Co.', 1831; accounts of the sale by auction of the effects of John Slade and Mr Mercer, 1844; a memorandum from Alexander Matheson regarding the establishment of B.A. Barretto in Manila, 1846, with related documents, including a memorandum on Manila affairs, 1854; statements of opium exports to China, Singapore and the Straits, and Calcutta, 1849-1854; sales accounts; memoranda regarding the weight and quality of opium from various vessels; memoranda regarding shipments, goods delivered, and merchandise in godowns; memoranda of opium imported at and exported from Cumsingmoon, with daily returns of opium there; reports on consignments of malwa opium at Shanghai; memoranda of agreement between Glover Brothers, Charles Thomas Glover, the City of Glasgow Bank and Alexander Hall & Co., shipbuilders, Aberdeen, 1869; and memoranda regarding the steamer 'Suwo-nada'. The documents include reference to R. Hodge; John Lamont; Daniel Patridge; Thomas Wallace; Augustine Heard & Co.; 'Cama Family'; fabric; silk; tea; and timber.
