Scope and Contents
A memorandum from Magniac & Co., Canton, stating the Hope Insurance Co.'s share of the general average on the ship 'Merope', captained by G. Parkyns, 5 October 1830; a register of policies granted by Magniac & Co., agents, Calcutta, 24 August 1832; a list of policies granted on opium per 'Sylph' by William Storm, agent, Calcutta, 10 March 1835; and policy no. 24 of Jardine, Matheson & Co. for 63,500 Company's Rupees on 50 chests of opium transported on the 'Sylph' from Calcutta to China, dated Calcutta, 23 February 1847.
