Scope and Contents
English translations of reports submitted to the Chinese government by Chinese merchants and officials regarding matters of trade and currency.
1. 'Report made to government by the Hong Merchants in reference to the admission of Opium as an article of legal commerce', docketed 'possibly 1825'.
2. 'Copy of a report fro[m the H?]ong merchant Fatqua to the Governor Loo proposing measures for the regulation of foreign trade', docketed '?1834/5'.
3. 'Report in reference to the circulation of dollars in China', made by the Commissioners of Finance and of Justice in the province of Canton, August 1836.
