Scope and Contents
Accounts of 1823-1880, mostly dated Bombay, Calcutta and Madras, relating primarily to sales, with many concerning currency and precious metals. There are also statements regarding the export of cotton from Bombay to Singapore and China, 1842-1846 and April-June 1860; an abstract statement regarding the estimated produce of opium in the Behar opium agency, Patna, 3 April 1866; and a report on the poppy cultivation of the Benares opium agency, Ghazeehore, 9 April 1866. The documents include reference to Thomas de Souza; Fergusson & Co.; Jardine, Skinner & Co.; Remington & Co.; Remington, Crawford & Co.; 'Red Rover'; Fort William; alum; bullion; copper; gold; sugar candy; sugar refineries; sycee silver; and tea.
