Scope and Contents

Letters of thanks for copies of Carter's broadside 'Sonnet Le bonheur de ce monde'. The letters were assembled by Paul Standard and sent to Carter in a portfolio, on the cover of which is inscribed: 'Collective thanks from the Typophiles of New York to Will Carter, esp. exacted at pistol-point during March,1940 by Paul Standard, M.A. With Paul Standard's letter to the Typophiles (mimeographed) and Will Carter's circular letter of thanks (lithographed) dated 26 Feb. 1941. Writers of letters include Valenti Angelo, Fred Anthoensen, John Archer, Paul A. Bennett, Joseph Blumenthal, John Burchard, Melbert B. Cary, O. Alfred Dickman, Philip C. Duschnes, W. A. Dwiggins, Harrison Elliott, Quincy P. Emery, Margaret B. Evans, John S. Fass, Ed. (?) Froelich, George Grady, George Hornby, Harold Hugo, Alan Jones, William A. Kittredge, George L. Mckay, E.
