Envelope 1 = page proof of frontmatter and pp. 1-58, with another proof of pp. vii-x, all marked; page proof of the 'Index of Engravings', marked, with 2 further copies. This index belonged to the portfolio of engravings accompanying the special edition. Envelope 2 = various proofs of the prospectus, some marked; layouts and various proofs of text and blocks; correspondence with Will and Sebastian Carter, and other papers including estimates. Envelopes 3-4 = paste-up of plates 1-96 from proofs and photocopies, annotated by Douglas Cleverdon and others. With 6 printed plates. Formerly in a folder marked 'Dai Jones blocks'. Correspondents include David Chambers, Barcham Green & Company (Simon B. Green), Douglas Cleverdon, Adrian Lack; Sangorski & Sutcliffe Bookbinders (Stanley Bray), William Cowley Parchment Works.
