Book printing, 1929-2009
Scope and Contents
This series covers books printed for publishers, including the Rampant Lions Press itself, and for private customers; and book projects abandoned for one reason or another. The title of each item is the author and title of the book, publisher and date. If no publisher's name appears, the book was a private printing. Normally each item consists of papers arising from the progress of the book through the press but does not include a copy of the finished product. When papers such as copy (that is, typescript or manuscript for setting), estimates, layouts, drawings and artwork are datable and are not oversize, they are usually arranged in a single chronological series with correspondence (as Sebastian Carter normally filed them). Otherwise they are listed separately along with proofs and other matter (as usual with Will Carter's jobs). Many items include an envelope or folder on which Sebastian Carter has logged information such as prices, quantities, and a serial number.
