The published text omits the last 28 ff. (of the 245 ff. from the draft), which consist of material on 'the resistance of a battery' and some sheets of rough notes and calculations. 5 ff. of this omitted portion, dealing with a method of measuring resistance, have since been printed by I.B. Hopley, 'Maxwell's work on electrical resistance III', 'Annals of Science' 15 (1959), 51-55.
