'Hyperion: The Thalia Fragment', circa 1971
Scope and Contents
‘The Thalia Fragment’ is a series of five self-contained letters described by Riley as “a first working of Hölderlin’s epistolary novel 'Hyperion'.” The last of these two letters appeared in 'Grosseteste Review' Vol.1, No.3, Autumn 1971. The whole piece was to have been part of a never-finished third volume of Hölderlin translations, the working title for which was ‘Fragments’.*
Contains draft typescript translations of ‘The Thalia Fragment’ and a proposal for a Hölderlin book.
