Printing journals, 1809 - 1862
Scope and Contents
The series detail varies as follows:- CUP 20/1 records tradesmen's, agents', and a few customer's accounts, 1809-10; Under the heading 'Expenses in printing pamphlets, etc., including profit' it gives: date, customer, description of work and quantity, charges of composition and of corrections, press, value of paper. Sums due and received. CUP 20/2-5 records: date, customer, number and nature of work, cost of printing and of correction and paper, total. These books have date of beginning and ending of work and the left hand margin has cross-references to the Ledger (CUP 15/1), Press Check Book (CUP 23/3) and Compositors' Check Book (not received). CUP 20/6 also has sales to agents, etc., included latterly. CUP 20/7 also has University and Colleges accounts.
