The Director, Botanic Gardens, Sydney, in this office, 1901
Scope and Contents
202 x 154 mm. A view of the director, a bearded man, sitting at his desk in his office. The office walls are lined with bookshelves and maps. On the reverse of the print is written '3/01'. If these figures refer to the date of the photograph, the director pictured here would be Joseph Henry Maiden (1859-1925). Maiden was director of the Gardens from 1896-1924, and was the world authority on the Australian species of the Eucalyptus, as well as producing a prodigious variety of other published work.
