Scope and Contents

139 x 68 mm. A view looking across a field at Kalk Bay towards a group of houses with the whitewashed house of Col. Aston at the extreme left of the print. Col. Aston's wife was also a pioneer amateur photographer and received a prize at the Cape Town Fine Arts Exhibition of 1858 for a portrait of Sir George Grey, see Bull, M. and Denfield, J. (1970), pp 110-12.
