Drifting Band Hills. Fish Hook Bay near Kalk Bay, False Bay (westerly wind drifting the tops of the hill), 1866
Scope and Contents
287 x 209 mm. A view looking across scrubland towards advancing sand dunes (largely faded). An additional note in C.W. Busk's hand states: 'This heap of sand was slowly drifting over the Flats, towards Kalk Bay, the prevailing wind continually blowing it in one direction; when it came to the edge of the top it fell to the foot, and so on and on. It was getting dangerous to some farm houses in 1865-7. Perhaps it has been stopped by artificial shelters and plantations. Sand blown up from False Bay Beach near Muisenberg?'.
