Ingago Heights, Majuba Hill, 1881
Scope and Contents
144 x 100 mm. Showing the battlefield at Ingago Heights [Schuinshoogte] sometime after the action, with the skeletons of animals lying in the foreground, and a camera and photographer’s dark tent at the right. It was another defeat for General Colley; his forces lost 66 men killed and over 70 wounded in the fighting on 8 February 1881. Boer casualties were 8 killed and 10 wounded. Ingago lies just south of Majuba Hill, where, on 27 February 1881, Colley was killed in a final defeat.
