111 x 166 mm. A view showing the two soldiers holding up the telescope for the camera. Gordon in the last days of the siege spent many hours alone on the palace roof, watching both his own fortifications and the movements of the Mahdi's army. The photograph is stuck on to an album page entitled 'Khartum'.
