Le batteries du Mex démantalées, 1882

 Item
Reference Code: GBR/0115/RCS/Y3041A/2

Scope and Contents

263 x 179 mm. A view of the shattered battlements of Fort Mex showing the two ten-inch guns which the bombardment had failed to silence. The gun in the foreground (with 'Mister Lolo' painted on its mounting) has had its muzzle burst by the landing party from 'Invincible' led by Lieutenant Bradford while the further gun seems still to be intact: this would suggest that Fiorillo was present during the raid on the guns, since Archer states that both guns were dealt with in this way (Archer 1886, p. 275).
