Scope and Contents

A series of photographs of the University of Ghana. The University College of the Gold Coast was established in 1948, and at first used part of the Achimota College site. Legion Hill, some three miles away, was selected for a permanent home; it was not however until 1960 that all teaching departments were accommodated there. Renamed University College of Ghana in 1957, it became the University of Ghana in 1961. Photographer unknown.
