Eastham Collection, 1946-12 - 1952
Scope and Contents
A series of small snapshots which, according to a note on one envelope, were taken by Professor Eastham.
Professor Eastham was a member of a delegation under the chairmanship of Sir William Hamilton Fyfe, whose other members were Professor H.H. Bellot, Professor T.H. Davey, and Mr Walter Adams, sent by the IUC to consider educational developments in West Africa. It left London at the end of December 1946, visited all four British territories, and returned in mid-January. 48 of the photographs relate to West Africa, and some of these show Sir William Hamilton Fyfe. All are captioned on the back. The remainder show scenes in the Sudan, and presumably relate to another visit by Professor Eastham, circa 1952. Not all are captioned.
