Scope and Contents
A typewritten caption (which is a duplicate of a pencilled annotation) on the reverse reads 'Bridge erected by voluntary labour. Timber and cement given by N.A. [Native Administration] River formerly crossed by walking on a tree trunk. The road - about 9 miles long - was made by voluntary labour to Mbabu Owa where, in 12 months, the people erected - a temporary village hall, a stone-built sub-dispensary, a Maternity Home and preparations were made to build a Reading Room and a Co-op Shop'.
