127 x 179 mm. Three quarter length portrait showing Sir Daniel Morris (1844-1933) seated in a stiff-backed armchair. Morris was a distinguished botanist, specialising particularly in the economic botany of Britain's colonial possessions. He was appointed Assistant Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya, Ceylon in 1887 and served as Director of the Jamaica Botanic Department from 1879-86. He was Assistant Director of the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew from 1886-98. Photograph by Marceau, 258 Fifth Avenue, New York.
