Scope and Contents
165 x 116 mm. General view of the single storey school buildings, set against a jungle background. The caption reads: 'The Ibo people of Eastern Nigeria, among the most progressive in British West Africa, are setting the pace in community development. (See Feature set Intro. No. 590). (9). Villagers build and run schools; receive grants-in-aid if certificated teachers are employed. Infant tuition is free, primary fees are 24 shillings a year, rising to 48 shillings a year in standard six. This is Atakka school. The D.O. bought the roof with money from his Colonial Development and Welfare purse. 11/51'.
