The caption on the reverse has a brief introduction reads 'The Ibo people of Eastern Nigeria, among the most progressive in British West Africa, are setting the pace in community development. (See Feature Set Intro. No. 590). (19). Constructing the new road by voluntary labour up the face of the 400 ft. escarpment near Uvuru, Eastern Nigeria. Great trees have to be felled to cut the road. There is no way of hauling away the timber so it is burned on site'.
