Scope and Contents
Photograph album, measuring 260 x 240 mm, containing 76 black-and-white and colour photographs of various sizes (all annotated), documenting the Smedleys visits to Abesim in October 1967 and July 1980. There are images of welcome ceremonies, the ceremony of the Black Stools, the Chief, Elders and Queen Mother, the Palace, bands, schools and schoolchildren, the water works, a local pottery, the Women’s Group, a sawmill, the Cocoa Marketing Bungalow, and of a visit of a party from Abesim to England in 1981.
