Scope and Contents
Photograph album, measuring 280 x 215 mm, containing 61 black-and-white and colour photographs of various sizes, with detailed captions by Lady Smedley, documenting her visits to Abesim in 1966 and 1967, including her enstoolment as Honorary Queen Mother, 3 December 1966. There are images of the Chief, Elders and Queen Mother, teachers and school children, (including those who corresponded with students in England), welfare officers, the women’s group, local people and their homes, a palm wine maker, a sandal maker, a tailor, markets and stalls, and games and recreation.
