Scope and Contents

Papers relating to Lanning's service in the district. Subjects include native courts, African local government employees, county councils, hawking licenses, land regulation, District Commissioner’s circulars, place names, and tours of the district. The file also contains transcripts of two interviews with Lanning on the subject of caves and ancient occupation sites, forming part of the ‘Uganda’s Past’ series, and a paper by Lanning entitled ‘Kibengo: an Iron Age fort on Lake Albert’ (circa 80 sheets).
