Scope and Contents
Copy of a diary kept by Lanning while employed by Gold & Base Metal Mines of Nigeria Limited recording his work as a prospector and surveyor. Subjects include pay, accommodation, colleagues, road and camp organisation, drilling, dredging, soil samples, gold production, the supervision of labour, and mining prospects. Lanning also describes his social life and travel. The diary is accompanied by notes on the history of Sierra Leone and its African peoples (50 sheets).
