An undated, colour print of an engraving 'dessiné et gravé par Ambroise Tardieu', entitled 'Guerrier des terres Australes, coiffé comme les Suëves, et peint de rouge and de noir comme les Aries, peuple de la Germanie'. The print is mounted on a piece of card with the title 'ancient costumes of Germans compared with the savages of Australia'.

Ambroise Tardieu (1788-1841) was born on 2 March 1788 in Paris. He was an engraver who sold books and prints. He died on 17 January 1841 in Paris.
