Scope and Contents

The caption reads, 'The first boat that floated on its waters. The left hand shore is the Cape Colony, the right is the great Southern Desert, 1872. The Islands in front are where Sir Walter Currie shelled out the bushmen about 1870-1'. The term Bushmen is a historic term used to describe a group of Khoisan-speaking hunter-gatherers who lived in the Kalahari Desert.
