 File
Reference Code: GBR/0012/MS Add.10275/3/6/6

Scope and Contents

In the spring of 1995, Spitting Image Productions Limited were commissioned by Steve Heller at The New York Times to produce seven photographic scenes to be used in the Christmas edition of the Sunday supplement, The New York Times Book Review, which was published 3 December 1995. It was agreed upon that a plasticine model representation of the traditional puppet character, Mr. Punch, in Christmas attire would be used. The Mr. Punch model was featured in scenes that corresponded to the following sections of the magazine: cooking, architecture, art, photography, travel, and gardening; along with an image for the front cover (SI/2-8). Some of these photographic images were also used on business Christmas cards for Cairo Studios, the home of SIPL and its subsidiaries.

There are two files. The contents of the first file includes, but is not limited to: correspondence, invoices, and notes from Roger Law with instructions to photographer, Steve Bendelack, regarding the cropping of photographs. The second file contains a bundle of photographic transparencies related to the project.
