The World of Spitting Image, 1988-c early 1990s
Scope and Contents
A file containing proposals, an investment memorandum and copies of accompanying artwork; relating to a proposed public attraction in London, The World of Spitting Image, developed by the Spitting Image Productions Limited subsidiary, Spitting Image Engineering (SI/937 and 938). This attraction intended to incorporate a mix of static and animated exhibits, the latter of which would involve using a compressed air system to move life-sized models of Spitting Image caricatures.
There is also a feasibility study for the same attraction to be established at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, instead of London, which appears to be from either 1989 or 1990 (SI/939).
The work done for The World of Spitting Image would inform the Spitting Image Projects' [a joint venture between Spitting Image Productions Limited/Spitting Image Engineering and Funday Limited] attraction, Rubberworks, which opened to the public in Covent Garden, London, in December 1990.
