Scope and Contents

A portfolio containing examples of advertisement posters and related material for external companies, which involved the services of Spitting Image Productions Limited. The following items are present:

1. Two proofs for a Batchelors Slim a Soup advert, which features an photographic image of a Dame Edna Everage toby jug, c late 1980s. The jug was produced by SIPL (SI/1239 (b)).

2. An advertisement for a printer, made by Canon, c late 1980s. The poster...
appears to be designed to be advertised on the London Underground, and features a plasticine model representation of American President, Ronald Reagan, made by SIPL (SI/1953).

3. An advertisement for Ansells' low alcohol beer, c late 1980s. The poster appears to be designed to be advertised on the London Underground, and features a plasticine model of a male figure in women's clothing, made by SIPL (SI/1111).

4. An advertisement for a printer, made by Mannesmann Tally, c late 1980s The poster features a plasticine model representation of the British Conservative Party politician, Nigel Lawson, made by SIPL (SI/133).

5. A poster for the British satirical publication, Private Eye, which features plasticine model representations of the 1992 British general election candidates: John Major, Neil Kinnock, and Paddy Ashdown. Also present is a representation of the Democratic Unionist Party leader, Ian Paisley. This image was also used on the front cover of an April 1992 issue of the magazine (SI/532).

6. Proofs, photographic material and newspaper tearsheets relating to a 1992 Heineken beer advertisement, which has a plasticine model head of British Prime Minister, John Major, made by SIPL (SI/2049 (a) and (b)).
