Masai warrior, Equator camp, 1900-03-09
Scope and Contents
'A man belonging to the Wandroba Tribe, a hunter with an elephant spear, and the bow and arrow he uses for bringing down monkeys (colobus monkey with long hair only found here). The man has nothing on but a skin over his shoulder. The lobes of his ears are all pulled out of shape by his heavy ear rings. We gave him some biscuits as a reward for standing and he was vastly pleased. He would not have known what to do with money. His tribe have no kraal but live in the wood, in no settled home.'
