Scope and Contents
A diary describing Mary Ward's return to Sierra Leone on H.M.S. 'Biafra', May 1898, and the impact of the Hut Tax rising, including the murder of the Revd J. Hughes and the Revd W.J. Humphrey, and the removal of P.C.C.H. patients and staff to Annie Walsh School. The diary is written on pages from a duplicate book numbered 29-32 and 34, which were sent to England for circulation, 9 May 1898.
