The pamphlet is comprised of an image and short biography of Kivoi of the Kamba (d. 1851), Mkwawa of the Hehe (d. 1898), Mbatian of the Masai (c. 1820-1890), Muteesa of Buganda (c. 1838-1884), Mirambo of the Nyamwezi (c. 1840-1884) and Seyyid Barghash of Zanzibar (c. 1837-1888).
