A photograph taken at Government House, Bathhurst, on the occasion of Gambian Independence, showing the Governor, Sir John Paul, and five of his predecessors, Lord Milverton, Sir Hilary Blood, Sir Andrew Wright, Sir Percy Wyn Harris and Sir Edward Windley. There is typescript note identifying the individuals in the photograph.

Biographical / Historical

Sir John Warburton Paul (1916-2004) was the Governor of Gambia, 1962-1965. His predecessors as Governor included Arthur Frederick Richards, Lord Milverton (1885-1978), 1933-1936, Sir Hilary Rudolph Robert Blood (1893-1967), 1942-1947, Sir Andrew Barkworth Wright (1895-1971), 1947-1949, Sir Percy Wyn-Harris (1903-1979), 1949-1958, and Sir Edward Henry Windley (1909-1972), 1958-1962.
