Biographical / Historical

Sir Herbert Richmond Palmer (1877-1958) was born on 20 April 1877 and educated at Oundle and Trinity Hall, Cambridge. He became Assistant Resident, Nigeria, 1904, and Resident of Bornu Province, 1917. He was Lieutenant-Governor, Northern Provinces, Nigeria, 1925-1930, and Governor and Commander-in-Chief, Gambia Colony, 1930-1933, and Cyprus, 1933-1939. He died on 22 May 1958.
